    Cesar Lima

Cesar Lima is black belt second degree under Roger Gracie.

He began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu career in 1999 in a small town in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He learnt his first techniques under the guidance of Prof. Gilberto gabas, student of Brazilian National Champion and three times Mundial bronze medalist, Marco Barbosa. Cesar then continues to train under the tutelage of famed Value Tudo and UFC fighter, Jorge Patino Macano.

Early in 2002 Cesar decided to look for new challenges abroad. Leaving his Brazilian life behind him he travelled to London, home of the ten times world Jiu-Jitsu champion and second degree black belt Roger Gracie.

Training with Roger helped and inspired Cesar to focus on his two main personal challenges. Firstly, perfect his technique and become the best BJJ practitioner in his class and second to pass on his knowledge and continue the global spread of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by becoming an instructor at one of Roger's London academies.

After 4 year of intense training Cesar realised the first of his dreams. He had earned the trust of his professor and had become head instructor at the Roger Gracie - Vie Academy.

Boasting over 500 students Cesar's academies has become one of the most respected in UK with athletes of all levels competing both locally and at a European/World level.

Cesar's second personal challenge proved even more demanding. During 2006 Cesar suffered a serious injury, tearing three ligaments in his knee. Both doctors and friends alike believed that he would never fight professionally again. But, they were wrong. Cesar began an intensive rehabilitation program and he was determined to get back to the mats and complete his second target, without never losing his motivation after 18 months of hard training and a lot of perseverance he was ready to fight again.

With such a great team behind him, Cesar's second great achievement followed not long after. In 2010 he became the gold medal winner of the world renowned IBJJF European championships, a title he continued to uphold by winning gold for a second time in 2011. He has truly become the best European fighter in his category.

    Rogerio De Lima

I spent 10 years of my life training capoeira, since I was a kid in Brazil, and the transition to BJJ was smo0oth and having the capoeira background allowed me to develop in BJJ much faster, I have started training BJJ with Cesar Lima and Max Lima around 7 years ago.

    Steven Fage

I started training traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu in 2007 when my son started learning it at school.

I realised that I loved the groundwork the most, so moved on to BJJ after a couple of years.

I love the depth of technique in Jiu Jitsu and the chess-like interplay of strategies.

    Igor Terreco

I started Jiu Jitsu when I was 14 years old as a form of fitness and self defence. I’ve never done any other form of martial arts before so everything was new to me. I was first introduced to it surprisingly here in the UK even though i lived in Brazil. My first coach was Whilian Santos a now Cesar Lima brown belt at Vie academy. He would sneak me into the gym on Saturdays to train with him and now one of my professors Max Lima as no kids were allowed to train at the gym.

I never missed any of the classes and when the instructors saw that I was serious about training they took responsibility for me even though the gym wouldn’t let me train there.
